Malarum Mangaiyar

Blooming Ladies — providing essential women's healthcare products and health education to women and children in remote Tamil communities.

Support this program

Healthcare is a right, not a privilege

Malarum Mangaiyar — meaning "Blooming Ladies" in Tamil — was established with a clear and urgent purpose: to ensure that women and girls in remote Tamil villages have access to basic health products and health education that most of us take for granted.

Access to proper women's healthcare products is not just a matter of health — it is a fundamental human right that ensures dignity, respect, and the ability to lead a decent life. When young girls lack basic hygiene products, they miss school. When women lack access to reproductive health information, they lack agency over their own bodies and futures.

By supporting this program, you help break the cycle of poverty and empower children to stay in school and pursue their dreams — and women to live with the dignity they deserve.

The gap Malarum Mangaiyar fills

Menstrual hygiene products

Providing sanitary products to girls and women who cannot afford them — directly preventing school absenteeism and supporting health and dignity.

Health education

Workshops and information sessions on women's health, reproductive health, hygiene practices, and nutrition — knowledge that transforms lives.

Personal care essentials

Soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and other basic personal care items that are scarce or unaffordable in remote villages.

Supporting school attendance

When girls have access to hygiene products, they attend school consistently. Malarum Mangaiyar directly improves educational outcomes for girls.

Postpartum support

Essential products and care information for new mothers in the period after childbirth — a critical and often overlooked window of vulnerability.

Community health connections

Connecting women with healthcare providers and clinics — building bridges between remote communities and the formal health system.

Thamizh Tharakai — Online International Women's Day Event

Each year, Valluvam organises the Thamizh Tharakai online event in partnership with Think Premiere to support the Malarum Mangaiyar program — honouring the inspiring stories of Tamil women who are changing lives and communities.

The event brings together Tamil communities from Toronto, Batticaloa, Sydney, Medan, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and beyond in a celebration of Tamil womanhood and solidarity.
